Can using frozen sperms increase the likelihood of having a child with birth defects? - by Meera Bedi on May 7, 2018, 9:03 a.m.
No, using frozen sperms do not increase the likelihood of having a child with birth defects. A fresh embryo transfer has greater risk of birth defects than an embryo that had been frozen prior to transfer. Thawed embryo transfer usually occurs in a natural menstrual cycle, months after the egg-pick up. It is well beyond the time when all the hormones have already disappeared from a woman’s body, which are required to retrieve the eggs for IVF or ICSI.
