Satyam Hospital and Trauma Centre is a Gynecology & Obstetrics Hospital in Jalandhar. The services provided by the hospital are Gynecological Problems Care, Obstetrics Care, Laparoscopy, Hysteroscopy, Pregnancy Care & Baby Delivery. SATYAM means truth, honesty & upholding of ethical values. At Satyam, they try to adhere to these principles while discharging their duties. The philosophy behind the creation of Satyam is embodied in the Sanskrit shloka “IDAM NA MUM”, which means” “it all belongs to the Almighty”, It is his implanted in us, His creation and his blessings to us & to the people around us. The whole Satyam family gets together each morning at 8’oclock for thanking him & to offer special prayers for the critically ill patients in the hospital. Dr. Rajesh Pasricha & Dr. Kumud Pasricha , who worked in Mumbai, have established this state of the art Neurosurgical & Trauma Centre in this part of the country to provide immediate aid to Head injury & polytrauma patients when element of time becomes a crucial factor & save them from the agony of rushing towards far off cities. Dr. Rajesh Pasricha M.S., M.Ch. who is the CMD of the hospital has held various senior positions as teaching faculty at different Medical colleges. He was a senior registrar in Neurosurgery at DMC Ludhiana, did his MCh. from PGI Chandigarh and moved on to Mumbai as a senior clinical assistant at Bombay Hospital. After short stints as a lecturer at Grant Medical College, National Medical College and Seth G.S. Medical College under Bombay University, he worked as a lecturer with Prof. Sunil Pandya at KEM hospital for five years. From there he was promoted as Asst. Prof. with Prof. Ramani at L.T.M.C., Sion, Bombay. In 1995 he was appointed associate Prof. and Head of Neurosurgery dept. at C.M.C Ludhiana. He has been involved in the training of 27 Neurosurgeons in his teaching career .Dr. Pasricha further honed his surgical skills by working with well-known names like Prof. Vinko Dolenc at Ljubljana, Slovenia, Prof. Oster Tag at Freiburg, Germany, Prof. Michael Gabb at Greifswald, Germany, Prof. A.D. Mendelow at Newcastle, UK, Prof. Rosenburg at Melbourne, Australia, and Dr. Richard at KL, Malaysia. He is the pioneer of Micro neurosurgery and Spinal instrumentation in Punjab with many firsts to his credit. In order to provide these super-specialized surgeries to the people of Doaba, he came to Jalandhar, his home town; and created Satyam, with the active help of his wife Dr. Kumud Pasricha. The Hospital was started with the twin motive. Firstly, to provide ultra-modern health care of international standards to the people of this region & secondly to provide such services at affordable prices. Till date, these motives have been achieved in their own humble ways.
The Hospital has 48 beds including 9 in ICU, 5 in Stroke ICU and 22 airy & comfortable rooms, each with central air washer system or air-conditioning, central oxygen & central suction, and running hot and cold water. There is a facility of colour T.V & telephone in each room. The ever-smiling staff at reception are always eager to guide the patients & their relatives. Nurses and other paramedical staff are thoroughly professional in their dealings with indoor patients & their attendants. Café of the Hospital is very conveniently located and services hygienic snacks. The hospital kitchen supplies food cooked under the strict supervision of a qualified full-time Dietician to the patients & their relatives. A small serai has been provided within the hospital premises for the attendants of the patients coming from far of places, and the hospital laboratory addresses most of the diagnostic needs of the patients. Satyam Hospital & Trauma Centre was formally inaugurated on May 24, 2000, by the then Chief Minister of Punjab in the presence of the health minister, education minister, and other cabinet ministers.
On April 8, 2001, the state of the art IVF centre was inaugurated by none other than the present All India FOGSI President Prof. Sadhna Desai in the presence of Sr. Vice President MOGS Prof. Duru Shah from Mumbai. In March 2002, North Zone operative workshop on IVF & Infertility was organized by Dr. Kumud Pasricha in which 150 Gynecologists from all over the region learned during her operative demonstration. In March 2004, a workshop was held on Stereotactic Neurosurgery and Radiofrequency for Trigeminal Neuralgia. At this workshop, Department of Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery was inaugurated by Prof. V.K.Khosla, head of Neurosurgery department at PGI, Chandigarh in the presence of nationally eminent Neurosurgeons viz Dr. Sushil Patkar (Pune) & Dr.Mohnish Bhatziwala from Bombay.
