Seizure Disorders- Adults: The initial dose should not exceed 1.5 mgday divided into three doses. It may be increased if needed Pediatric Patients: The initial dose should be between 0.01 and 0.03 mgkgday but not to exceed 0.05 mgkgday given in two or three divided doses Panic Disorder- Adults: The initial is 0.25 mg two times per day

Drowsiness, headache, fatigue, nervousness, lethargy, dizziness, nausea, hangover, anxiety, depression, weakness, confusion, blurred vision, abnormal dreams, and fainting Difficulty in breathing and palpitations Anemia, decreased white blood cells and platelets Vomiting, diarrhea, dry mouth and abdominal discomfort Muscle weakness and pain Hair loss and rash Painful urination, urine retention and bed-wetting Excessive sweating and burning eyes

Caution should be exercised in patients with history of myasthenia gravis, kidney or liver problems, blood disorder, mental or mood problems, respiratory problem, alcohol abuse, any allergy, who are taking other medications, elderly, children, during pregnancy and breast feeding It may cause drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness and blurred vision, do not drive a car or operate machinery while taking this medication. It may cause unconsciousness, avoid doing unsafe tasks Patient may develop with increased risk of suicidal thoughts, watch them carefully If condition worsens, consult with your doctor Monitor liver function, complete blood cell counts, and electrocardiograms regularly while taking this medication

DepressionObsessive compulsive disorder(persistent obsessions or compulsions), Anxiety, Panic disorder(significant behavioral change) - Adult - 10 mg once daily, increased if necessary. Max: 20 mg daily Elderly -Half the adult dose

Tell your doctor if you notice sudden mood changes or unusual thoughts Do not take Escitalopramif you are allergic to Escitalopram or to any other ingredients of this medicine Do not take this drug if You are taking medicines called monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), including moclobemide, selegiline, used to treat depression Consult your doctor immediately, if you develop difficulty in urination,Fits (seizures), unusual and rapidly changing ideas, inappropriate happiness and excessive physical activity,Yellowing of the skin and eyes (signs of liver impairment/hepatitis),Fast, irregular heartbeat, fainting (Torsade de Pointes),Restlessness or difficulty in sitting or standing still during the first few weeks of the treatment Thoughts about killing or harming yourself within the first few weeks of treatment since these medicines all take time to work. Consult your doctor immediately Do not take escitalopram if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breast-feeding, unless you and your doctor have discussed the risks and benefits involved When stopping treatment with escitalopram, the dose should be gradually reduced over a period of few weeks to reduce the risk of discontinuation.
