UsesBromhexine mainly used to help relieve breathing problems caused due to inflammation of air passages (bronchitis) or inflammation of sinuses (sinusitis)
Mechanism of ActionBromhexine is capable of reducing the thickness of thick gel-like slippery substance (mucus) from the respiratory tract (mucolytic agent). It facilitates easy removal (by coughing out) of mucus from the respiratory tract by making it thin and less sticky
DosageAdults -8 to 16 milligrams thrice a day for one week.This should be taken with food as it might irritate the stomach Children -2 to 6 years old : may be given 2 to 4 milligrams twice a day 7 to 12 years old may take 4 to 8 milligramsthrice daily for a week
