    Q. Is the egg retrieval step during IVF treatment is painful?
    • Egg retrieval is most invasive step of In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) treatment. During this step, an ultrasound is performed and an injection is inserted into the vaginal canal to remove the egg sacs or the follicles from the ovaries of the woman undergoing the IVF procedure. After the process is completed the patient may experience some cramping and bleeding for a few days which gets healed on its own in most of the cases.

    • Retrieval of eggs is one of the important steps of IVF procedure. Quality eggs are taken out from the female's body. Certain amount of discomfort is felt in the body. But no major pain is felt in the body. During my IVF procedure, egg retrieval step created some kind of discomfort but no pain at all.
