In about 50% of IVF procedure, there is a transfer of two embryos. Three embryos are transferred in 23% IVF procedure cases. In 10% of the cases, there is a transfer of four to five embryos in one IVF cycle. Women who are more than forty years old require five embryos. In about thirty three percent of IVF treatments there is probability of twins.
In most of the cases, two embryos are transferred for positive implantation in the uterus. This helps in achieving successful pregnancy. The success of the IVF treatment highly depends on success of implantation.
