Ayush Ministry has specified that sex during pregnancy effects well being of the growth of the baby in the pregnant women. This has made many couples think that whether sex during pregnancy bad or good. Medical experts and nutritionists do not agree completely with this suggestion for pregnant women.
If we look into the figures, India is the topmost country with highest rates of maternal mortality, which is often caused by malnutrition, and lack of protein and calcium in pregnant women. UNICEF India’s report says the figures to be 174 out of every 1,00,000 maternal deaths due to malnutrition. Ignoring such situation/s, Indian Government has released an official booklet “Mother and Child Care” released recently by the Ayush Ministry of Indian Government.
The report “Mother and Child Care” attempts to control “impure thoughts” among expectant mother and believes in no sex during pregnancy as a measure.
According to the report, sex leads to desire, attachment, lust and other unwelcoming culture in the mother and the baby. So these kind of thoughts should be prohibited. Also, the report advises the pregnant mothers to look at the beautiful baby pictures so that it can impact positively in the baby.
The report is an effort to promote vegetarianism and no meat policy by the Hindu-nationalist government led by Narendra Modi and Ayush Ministry who have recently banned eating beef along with limitations to cow transport for slaughter etc. The country was not overcoming from this chaos on beef rage when the report on pregnant women in India and regulation on her sexual and eating behaviour is released. This report advises pregnant women to keep away from meat and eggs, as they are believed to be against the culture and promotes hatred.
Pregnant women to-do-list as per the Report- ‘Mother and Child Care’
