A woman’s body goes several changes every month. With the onset of ovulation periods and menstrual cycles, there is lot of hormonal changes that you, too as a woman must be facing. Your body will be shedding uterus lining, releasing eggs and preparing itself for fertilization. During such course, you might feel irritated and ruffled. You will get mood swings and may get stressed, too. As per a research, stress and anxiety have a way long relationship with menstrual cycles or periods. Most of the women are unaware of the fact that stress delays periods. Excessive stress or anxiety even affects digestive system. Stress slows down your body’s metabolism. Pituitary glands are the master glands working with adrenal glands and ovaries for the proper release of hormones before, after and during menstrual cycles.

When stress delays periods, you may have certain complications with your pregnancy.  Make sure you have healthy periods while trying to conceive. As stress causes missed periods, it affects your endocrine system as well. You may get fatigue, slow digestion, irregular sleep and weight gain. These complications can adversely affect your pregnancy.

How To Manage Stress To Get Regular Periods?

It is very important to manage your stress. Stress delays periods and so you can have various health issues, especially when you are trying to conceive faster. You can try these methods to release your stress and anxiety

  1. You can have a some of the food items, which are natural stress busters and can release your anxiety. You can have asparagus, green tea, flax seeds, apples, coconuts and chocolates to help you lower down your agitations and worries. As stress causes missed periods, these food items will help in regulating your menstrual cycle as well.
     
  2. You should try doing Yoga and Meditation to release your anxiety. Stress delays periods and eventually disturbs your mental peace. Yoga and meditation can put you back on the track of good mental and physical health. It will help in proper release of happy hormones called endorphins and oxytocin, which can manage your stress very well.
     
  3. You can try some of the stress busters like social activities, positive thinking, motivational videos, chanting and prayers to relax yourself. You can even join any of the socially active group or NGOs where you can deviate your mood for a noble cause.

yes stress causes missed periods but there can be other reasons certainly that can also delay periods. If you are suffering from thyroid issues , you most probably would have weight issues as well and this can ultimately affect your normal and regular period cycles.
