If you've decided to dive deep into parenthood and are now planning a baby, there are a few things you need to do. While the idea of becoming a parent is fulfilling and exciting, with it comes to a range of responsibilities. So, it's better that you weigh out your plan of action before you take the plunge. When you are trying to conceive or getting pregnant, you should  keep a track of your ovulation days, and know some pregnancy tips and signs of pregnancy. 

1. Visit A Doctor: Before you step onto the path of conceiving, it is important that you consult a doctor. Your body works in mysterious ways and it's necessary you know which stage are you at in terms of conception. This applies for both the male and female counterpart. When you are trying to conceive or getting pregnant, you should  keep a track of your ovulation days, and know some pregnancy tips and signs of pregnancy. Get a check up and tests done and know for certain if you're ready for the journey. Let the doctor know the medications you are on - all of them. This would also be the best time to ask all the questions that have been creating a havoc in that mind of yours.

2. Watch your diet: Diet plays an important role when you're trying to conceive. Yes, you should always pay extra attention to what you're eating, especially when you're planning to nurture a baby inside your womb. Include lots of fruits, green leafy vegetables, calcium-rich food, whole grains, and proteins. When you are trying to conceive or getting pregnant, you should  keep a track of your ovulation days, and know some pregnancy tips and signs of pregnancy. Alcohol and smoking are a strict no-no. reduce your caffeine intake. Discuss with your doctor and get hands-on advice on what to eat and what to avoid. Ask questions. Which cheeses should stay off the menu? Which fish are high in mercury? 3. Start on Prenatal Vitamins: Prenatal vitamins are essential for preventing birth defects, and it helps in conceiving. You must start taking them before you start trying to conceive to prepare your body for the hormonal changes that it will go through during the process. While you can find a range of prenatal vitamins at a pharmacy, it's better that you consult with your doctor regarding which prenatal vitamin supplement would be the best for you.

4. Consider a genetic carrier screening: This is a simple test that will determine whether you or your partner are carriers of a serious inherited disease. This could impact the future baby as 1 in 4 babies have a chance of inheriting the same medical condition. Visit a genetic counselor who can help you make wise choices in dire situations and advise you the best way out of it.

5. Exercise and Watch Your Weight: Trying to conceive doesn't require you to become lethargic. While intense workouts are not advised, you can go for light exercises such as walking, jogging, and swimming. You need to remain active and maintain a healthy weight when you're trying to conceive. Hence, your body should be prepared to handle it.

I have been trying since a year now..but still I haven't conceived yet.since last 3 months I have started taking treatment..doctor has start with haemoglobin and ovacare tablets.and even I do the sonography to check ovalution cycle..

@Piyu Priya: Ovacare is a multivitamin supplement which will help you conceive. Continue the medicines and you will soon be able to conceive. Do you have any medical conditions like PCOD, thyroid?

I have 3 kids now currently working on baby #4. it's been 4 months since I had my arm implant taken out and my husband is really wanting us to get pregnant. I'm trying to not get discouraged it took us 6 months to get pregnant with my 1 yr old.
