Every woman thinks that getting pregnant during period is a tricky question to answer. But getting pregnant on period chances is positive, if the intercourse takes place during the last day of periods. So, couples need to take help of period tracker to keep a record of the safe days for intercourse.

When you are going to plan your baby, you should be aware of your menstrual cycles and the ovulation period. It will give you clarity as to when you should go for unprotected sexual intercourse with your partner. But here comes a myth that women who have unprotected sex during their periods do not get pregnant. This is not an absolute truth. There are fewer chances whether can you get pregnant while on your period but possibilities also exist. You should not be afraid of any of the bad stories with pregnancy on period. A positive thinking and right approach will always lead you to a fruitful path. It's just you have to look after your body and see how it works. When you want to answer- can you get pregnant on your period, you should track your periods, ovulation and fertile window. It is most possible if you have a short cycle of periods.

    What are Periods?

Periods are the cyclic changes your body goes through, every month. It causes certain physical and hormonal changes in your body, including ovulation. One of your ovaries releases eggs to meet any sperm and get fertilized. When the eggs do not find any sperm to get fertilized, your uterus along with the uterus lining sheds them. This is called period. The uterus lining is shed with eggs and blood. So you bleed during your period.

Can you get pregnant on your period

Some of you may have clots along with blood, which is a normal period trait. You can bleed for 2 to 7 days. The cycle can vary for 26 to 35 days. However, bleeding for less than 2 days and more than 7 days, both are not a good sign and if you have such, consult a doctor immediately. If you want to know- can you get pregnant on your periods, then find out the best time during your periods and utilize it judiciously.

Can you get pregnant on your period?

When you ask yourself-can you get pregnant on your period, track your ovulation period, fertile window as well as your menstrual cycle. Yes, you can get pregnant while on your period. You need to check whether you have a short cycle (menstrual cycle coming every 21st to 24th day). A short span of menstrual cycle increases your chance of getting pregnant on period. If you have menstrual cycle with length of 21-24 days, you are more likely to ovulate early and so if you have an unprotected sex on the last day of your bleeding, it is highly possible that you will conceive within 4- 5 days.

Can you get pregnant while on your period

You need to track your ovulation and length of your menstrual cycle. You can even try some methods to get early periods as to know can you get pregnant on your period. Try having an unprotected sexual intercourse (without condoms and birth control methods) on the last day of your bleeding. Sperms survive for 3 -5 days inside your vaginal cavity. You are more likely to conceive after 4- 5 days of having sex. You might feel bloated, have abdominal pain or spotting (implantation blood-sign of early pregnancy) which are common symptoms to let you know- can you get pregnant while on your period.

Can you get pregnant just before your period?

The answer will be most likely no. The further you move away from ovulation, your chance of conception keeps getting dimmer. For women who have a regular cycle of 28-30 days or more; the ovulation period falls between 11-21 days of your cycle. So, it is the safest period to have unprotected sex but for pregnancy it is very rare to get pregnant during this time.
