Below is the list of interactions of Azithral 500 MG tablet:

1- Diseases

a- QT Prolongation- It is advised to inform you have an arrhythmia, heart disease or drugs that prolong QT intervals like psychiatric drugs or anti-arrhythmic drugs.

b- Liver Disease- Consult the doctor if you have any liver disease and drugs, which causes liver damage.

c- Myasthenia Gravis- If you have thyroid disease or Myasthenia Gravis (drooping of eyelids, difficulty in swallowing, double vision).

2- Medicines

a- Atorvastatin - If you have dark-colored urine, muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness then contact your doctor.

b- Amiodarone - If you have lightheadedness, fainting, shortness of breath then it is advised to inform the doctor. Also inform the doctor about other medicines which you are using.

c- Pimozide - If you have noticed an irregular heartbeat, nausea, tightness in the chest or blurred vision then tell your doctor about all the medications.

d- Aluminium Hydroxide/Magnesium Hydroxide - It is advised to take Azithral 500 MG Tablet at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after Azithral 500 MG Tablet and report the doctor about other medicines.

1- Usage During Pregnancy:The medicine is not advised for pregnant women until it is not required. It should be taken only under doctor’s guidance when its benefits outweigh the potential risks. Usage during pregnancy
2- Usage During Breastfeeding:The medicine is not recommended for breastfeeding women unless it is absolutely necessary. And if the medicine has been used, then monitoring of infant is to be done to diagnose the undesired effect.

3- Avoid taking Azithral 500 MG tablet if you have known allergy to this medicine or any other macrolides. 

4- This medicine is known to worsen the Myasthenia Gravis symptoms plus increases new symptoms. So, one must use this medicine with caution with any history of Myasthenia Gravis. Ask the doctor to prescribe with an alternative.

5- Patients who have a history of Arrhythmias, heart diseases, as well as the ones who are on medicines that prolongs the QT interval like psychiatric drugs and anti-arrhythmic drugs, needs to use this medicine with caution as it can increase the risk of cardiac arrhythmias. Ask a doctor for dose adjustment or a suitable alternative.

6- The antibiotic therapy can imbalance the normal microbial flora of large intestine, promoting the bacteria growth called as Clostridium difficile. It ends up with severe diarrhea.

7- Azithral injection is not recommended for the patients below 16 years of age.

Azithral 500 MG Tablet Dosage Instructions

It is always advised to consume Azithral 500 MG tablet as per doctor's recommendation. The medicine should be swallowed whole. Children who weigh less than 45 kg must not take it. You can read about the doses on the label also. Complete your course even if you feel better. In case of any infection or symptoms get worse or new infection develops within few days of taking medicine then it is advised to see a doctor.

What are the Side Effects of Azithral 500 MG Tablet?

Consult your doctor immediately if you start experiencing the following side effects. Most common side effects include stomach upset and cramps, feeling of being sick or of diarrhea.

1- Sudden wheeziness,

2- Difficulty in breathing

3- Swelling of eyelids, face or lips

4- Rash or itching (affecting the whole body)

5- Severe or prolonged diarrhea in which has blood or mucus in it, during or after treatment with Azithral 500 MG tablet. It is a sign of serious bowel inflammation

6- Redness and flaking of skin due to severe rashes

7- Rapid or irregular heartbeat

8- Painful urination

9- Vomiting

10- Low blood pressure

11- Heartburn
