Ciplox Tablet - Uses, Side Effects, Substitutes, and Interactions

Ciplox tablet uses are in case of patients such as bronchitis, pneumonia with cystic fibrosis, pyelonephritis, joint infections, and cystitis. Ciplox tablet side effects can be seen if pregnant women, breast feeding women, tendinitis and tendon rupture. Ciplox tablet also has adverse effects in certain medical conditions.

1- Bronchitis: Ciplox 500 MG Tablet treats bronchitis (it is an inflammation in lungs due to Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae and Mycoplasma Pneumonia).  

2- Pneumonia: It is the most common type of lung infection caused due to Streptococcus pneumoniae and  Haemophilus influenzae and Ciplox 500 is used for treating the community-acquired pneumonia.

3- Pneumonia with cystic fibrosis: It is an inherited lung disease that creates thick mucus and then promotes bacteria's growth like Staphylococcus aurous and Homophiles influenza. Ciplox 500 is useful for treating this infection.

4- Pyelonephritis:Ciplox 500 is recommended for treating Pyelonephritis i.e. a kidney infection due to E.coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterococci and Klebsiella pneumoniae.

5- Prostatis: Due to Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas and Enterococcus species there is inflammation in the prostate gland, which is responsible for producing semen and is called Prostatis. Ciplox 500 is effective in treating this disease.

6- Cystitis: E.coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterococci and Klebsiella pneumoniae causes a bladder infection known as Cystitis.

7- Joint Infection: Ciplox 500 MG is also effective in treating the bone and joint infections due to Enterbacter cloacae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

What are the interactions of Ciplox 500 MG tablet?

Below is the list of interactions of Ciplox 500 MG tablet with different things:

Interactions with disease

1- Colitis -If you are experiencing abdominal pain, diarrhea and blood in stools after taking Ciplox 500, then avoid its further consumption. Consult the doctor if you have gastrointestinal diseases.

2- Central nervous system disorders- You might experience tremors, anxiety, hallucinations, restlessness and confusions if you are taking Ciplox 500 MG while suffering from CNS disorder. In this situation, avoid the intake of caffeine products such as chocolates, coffee and energy drinks.

3- QT Prolongation- If you are facing any chest discomfort then avoid taking Ciplox 500 MG. In case if you have any heart disease or family history of heart disease then regular cardiac tests should be performed.

4- Interaction with Dairy Products- If you are consuming Ciplox 500 MG with dairy products, then it is hard to observe the desired effects. You need to maintain at least 2 hours of gap between the dairy products and Ciplox 500 MG tablet.

5- Interaction with Alcohol- Because the interaction of medicine with alcohol is unknown so it is advised to talk to doctor before going for the next dose.

6- Interaction with medicine- The interaction is quite severe if Ciplox 500 MG tablet is taken with Escitalopram, Corticosteroids, and Quinidine; while there are moderate effects if taken with Ethinyl Estradiol, Aspirin and Anti diabetic medicines.

What are the precautions and warnings associated with intake of Ciplox tablet?

Below are the warnings and precautions:

1- Pregnancy: Usage of this medicine is not recommended for expecting mothers.

2- Breast-feeding: There can be adverse effect on joints development of infant if breast-feeding mothers are consuming Ciplox 500 MG tablet.

3- Tendinitis and tendon rupture: If you continue using Ciplox 500 MG for more than 6-8 months then it may lead to increased risk of tendon rupture or tendinitis in the hand, shoulder, or back of the ankle.

It is very risky for those who are above 60 years and have issues related to kidney, heart, joint disease or lung transplant.

Ciplox and Pregnancy

This medicine is not recommended for pregnant women and for those who are breastfeeding as it might have adverse effects on infant’s joint development. This tablet may also increase the risk of developing tendinitis or tendon rupture. But it is advised to stop taking Ciplox 500 MG tablet if you are experiencing any side effect like headaches, diarrhea, nausea, heartburn, vomiting or fatigue.

Ciplox 500 MG Tablet Dosage Instructions

For all general cases a tablet a day is usually enough. However, it is advised to consume this medicine under the supervision of doctor. In case, if you have missed the dose then it should be taken as soon as possible. In case of overdosing, please visit the doctor immediately or look for emergency medical help.
