If you are going to visit fertility clinic for the consultation then it is important to feel that you are getting the most out of your consultations. Your first fertility clinic visit will be an important milestone in your pregnancy tour: it's often a long appointment and visits, and it will set the tone of the interactions with the doctors, nurses, and clinic staff. You should have some sort of idea about IUI treatment and IVF treatment before visiting the fertility clinic for the consultation. This will help you understand what all doctor will explain you.

What tests are done at the clinic?

The medical tests that will be carried out by your fertility doctor, before starting any treatment you may be given further tests at your local hospital or fertility clinic. You should have some sort of idea about IUI treatment and IVF treatmentbefore visiting the fertility clinic for the consultation. This will help you understand what all doctor will explain you. These may include: 

1. Medical test for women:

  •  A full hormone profile is taken between days two – four will be done of your period to assess for any hormone imbalance
  • Blood tests to find out if you are ovulating or not
  • An ultrasound scan that is done to look at your uterus and ovaries
  • Follicle tracking – a series of ultrasound scans to follow the development of a follicle to see if an egg is developing
  • Hysterosalpingogram HSG – an x-ray to check your fallopian tubes and uterus condition
  • Laparoscopy – an operation in which a dye is injected through your cervix as the pelvis is inspected via a telescope (laparoscope) with a tiny camera attached to check for tubal blockage
  • Hysterosalpingo-contrast sonography (HyCoSy) – a vaginal ultrasound probe is used to check the fallopian tubes for blockages

2. Medical test for men:

  • Semen analysis to check sperm numbers and quality and motility of sperms
  • Sperm antibody test to check for protein molecules that may prevent sperm from fertilizing an egg

3. What all you need to ask your doctor?

With the IUI treatment, good quality sperm is deposited close to the egg which increases the chances of the sperm reaching and fertilizing the egg. I must say IUI is really effective and has been blessing many of the couples with its best results.
