Cigarette Smoking can significantly reduce the chances of getting pregnant among women. Cigarette smoking is one of the major infertility causes in men and women. In men, smoking causes cancer in some of the cases. It also affects sperm motility in men. In women, it leads to ovulation problems.

We’ve all read the warnings and seen the cautionary photos, ads, and commercials—smoking is dangerous. That said, plenty of people still smoke, despite the known risks.

It’s important for women of child-bearing age to know that smoking is definitely a risk if you’re trying to get pregnant, or are currently carrying a baby. Despite the fact that our mothers and grandmothers might have smoked during their childbearing years, the data is clear that lighting up is really a problem if you’re hoping to conceive.

The chemical of cigarettes can hurt your egg and ovarian function, and also cause earlier menopause. The fertility outcomes are affected by the amount that a person smokes—the more cigarettes per day, the more likely you'll have issues and spend a long time trying to get pregnant. Miscarriages are also more likely if you smoke because the genetic material inside of your body has been affected by the cigarettes over time. Smoking affects fertility, so think twice if you are getting pregnant.

Smoking Affects Fertility, Getting Pregnant

Secondhand smoke can also affect your chances of conception. And if your male partner smokes, you'll have a harder time getting pregnant, too: Tobacco use has been shown to hurt sperm count and motility.

Quitting smoking has a positive effect on your fertility, although you can’t repair the damage that has already been done to your eggs. Fertility typically recovers considerably after about one year of sobriety.

That said, quitting smoking isn’t easy, no matter how desperately you may want a baby. Addiction is real; it affects your body and your brain. If you know that you want a baby soon or in the near future, one of the best things you can do to increase your chances of conceiving is to quit smoking. Smoking affects badly and if you are getting pregnant then no more smoke. Smoking affects fertility, so think twice if you are getting pregnant.

Cigarette smoking can cause infertility

Smokers are more likely to be found to have infertility problems than those of nonsmokers. If you are smoking since last 2 or three years, or smoke more than 2 cigarettes per day, you are at risk of infertility problems that can be increased. It can cause infertility and problems if you are getting pregnant. Smoking affects fertility, so think twice if you are getting pregnant.

When you smoke a single cigarette, more than 7000 chemicals spread throughout your entire body with blood to all of your organs. This can lead to infertility problems that include the following:

  • Ovulation problems
  • Genetic issues
  • Damage to your reproductive organs
  • Damage to your eggs or premature menopause.
  • Increased risk of cancer and increased risk of miscarriage

How smoking causes fertility problems for men

Men that smoke cigarettes are at the risk for the following male fertility problems:

Smoking Affects Fertility, Infertility, Fertility

  • Low sperm count and sperm motility problems
  • Hormonal disorders
  • Erectile dysfunction - trouble getting or maintaining an erection while intercourse

Yes, it is absolutely true. Smoking affects fertility. It causes more complications for women rather than they cause for men. New sperms are being produced in men continuously but women have limited number of eggs present in their ovaries since birth which can be easily impacted by smoking.

Infertility has a long relationship with smoking. Getting pregnant or fertility is quite more possible for women after they stop smoking. As per a research, females who smoke can elevate their chances of conceiving if they quit smoking at least 2 months before trying to get pregnant.
