Birth control methods for teenagers include IUD, birth control patch, birth control pills, vaginal rings, male and female condoms. Contraceptive methods help to avoid pregnancy in teenagers as well as keep STDs away from them. Teenagers must utilize any of the methods to prevent pregnancy.

Undoubtedly, sexual pleasures are amongst the best feelings in the world. And the first thing most of the people do to experience sexual pleasure and orgasm is via masturbation. There have been many opinions and debates related to masturbation which however we are not getting into. When we talk about teens, for them the thought of sex can be exciting and amazing. Teenagers need to think about it before indulging, they need to worry about it as well as need to understand where they can go wrong irrespective of the fact that they are sexually active or not.

More than half population of America's teens are sexually active and use protection. There have been multiple surveys and studies conducted to know how they indulge and do they know what are the risks involved. It is found that about 55% of teenagers in America started involving in sexual activity by the age of 18 and more than 80% of the teens used protection during their first time. National Center for Health Statistics conducted this study on 4,135 male and female teenagers from 15 to 19 age group in 2015.

But now the percentage has dropped drastically as only 44% of teen boys and 42% of teen girls are indulged into teen sex which is 9% down for girls and 16% for boys.

Reasons for certain teens to avoid sex

1- Against their religion

2- Against their morals

3- Has not find the right person

4- Fear of getting pregnant

But in other survey it was found that 74% of teen girls and 51% boys had intercourse with whom they were in relationship. While only 2% girls and 7% boys admitted that they indulged with somebody they merely knew.

Apart from this, teens also agreed of using contraception and the percentage of girls fall high in this. It implies 99% girls are aware of using birth control and have been using while little teen sex.

Although teens aren't aware about several protection methods and only relies on using condom either in most sex or little teen sex. This contraception has a failure rate of 18% withdrawal rate is 22% and then pill which has 9% of failure rate. Teenagers doesn't know other effective methods like IUD and implantation which are introduced in early 2000. The other thing teens have in their mind either they don't know about protection or they are young to use them.

Negative effects of Teen Sex on their sexual health

Parents now are worried about their teenagers involving into sexual activity. As once the child enters into adolescence, they start gaining independence and take their own decisions. As a parent, you can guide them with the negative psychological effects of sex. There are negative effects of sex on teenagers.

In a study conducted on 27 students, it was noticed that teens described about their first sexual experience:

1- Feeling of being used

2- Fear of getting pregnant

3- Fear of sexually transmitted diseases

4- Diminished views about themselves about first sex experience

5- Mentally devastated

6- If protection doesn't work well

Birth Control for Teens

There are different birth control measures available today and teens need to consult to doctor for understanding which method is suitable for them.

Below are some of the effective birth control measures for the teens who are sexually active:

1- Contraceptive Implant

2- Intrauterine Device (IUD)

3- Progestin Injection

4- Contraceptive Patch

5- Contraceptive Vaginal Ring

6- Male Condom

7- Birth Control Pills

8- Vaginal Pouch or Female Condom

There are other less effective measures and are not recommended to teenagers. They are: Withdrawal, Fertility awareness methods (Rhythm method) and Spermicide.
