    • 4.6   (7 Votes)

Best birth control methods for teenagers include Copper T insertion and Transdermal patch. Copper T insertion method of birth control is one of the in-demand birth control tips in the recent times. Birth control shots and patches are also a good solution for birth control. Get to know the basics before opting for them.

More teens today are curious and waiting to have intercourse. When teens do intercourse though, most of the teens say they've used some type of birth control methods before or after intercourse to prevent pregnancy-- like oral contraceptive pills -- the last time they had intercourse. If you're a parent of a sexually active teen, you probably just breathed a sigh of relief. (1)

Though it is a big relief that teens are taking contraception and eliminating the chances of getting pregnant but that teens don't use these popular ways to prevent pregnancy all the time, as they are not regular and even have some adverse effects of contraceptive pills. All teens out there might wonder that what's the best and easiest type of birth control methods to help make sure your son or daughter doesn't become a parent too soon or conceive? Teens need best birth control methods and oral contraceptive pills are one of the best birth control that can be used by teens. (2)

Here's what the experts say are the best options:

This is the safest bet: Abstinence is what not having sex, also known as abstinence, is the only the best way to avoid pregnancy and prevent you from being a parent and save you from sexually transmitted diseases, like HPV. Some strains of HPV have been directly linked to cervical cancer.

    Contraception, oral contraceptive pills

The Best Bet: IUDs and Implants

Intrauterine devices copper (IUDs Copper) and implants that are a small matchstick type implant are known as long-acting, reversible contraceptives that can be taken out when you decide to become pregnant. Doctors often prescribe them first cause it is the simplest form of birth control methods.

You might be thinking that way to go with the implant when you can go with oral contraceptive pills? You don't have to think about any contraception when in the heat of the moment or need not to remember to take a pill every day. And implants work extremely well at preventing pregnancies. Teens need best birth control methods and oral contraceptive pills are one of the best birth control that can be used by teens. Studies say that less than 1 in every 100 females with birth control implant or IUD will get pregnant during a year. (3)

    Here are the basics:

    • An IUD copper is a small, T-shaped device placed into the womb that prevents pregnancy. It can stay there for 3-10 years, depending on the which type of IUD you are implanting. Some IUDs release hormones in your body to provide more secure protection against pregnancy and to ease menstrual cramps during your periods.
    • The implant is a T-shaped small plastic rod about the size of a matchstick. It is implanted under the skin on your upper arm. IUD prevents pregnancies for up to 3 years.
    • IUD copper should be implanted by a doctor after knowing all its effects and side effects on your body.
    • IUD will neither protect you against sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) nor HIV. Female condoms and male condoms are best to protect you from STD's.

    Shots & Patches

The contraception shot is a drug called medroxyprogesterone ( Depo Provera ). Shots have a long-acting form of the hormone progestin that lasts about 3 months in your body and keeps protecting you from getting pregnancy or unwanted pregnancy. (4)

    birth control, oral contraceptive pills

If teens are choosing this option of patch or shot, she'll need to visit the doctor every 11-13 weeks for a shot and injection. Teens who use this birth control might have lighter periods and will not face heavy bleeding. But they could also gain some weight and lose bone density. Teens need best birth control methods and oral contraceptive pills are one of the best birth control that can be used by teens. Only about 6 in every 100 females who choose shots or patch method to get pregnant in the first year. (5)That's a better success rate than birth control pills.

Having patch was easier but its side effects are vulnerable. I had heavy cramps and stroke. So, I removed it.

If I were a teenager, I would love to have these birth control shots. It is easier to hide this from parents. And will be best to avoid pregnancy.

Many doctors ask to take oral contraceptive pills the same time every day. But it's just to help us remember that we are on pills. It's really wondering that doctors also play trick on us so that we may not miss our dose. Seems interesting, too.

IUD can be the best birth control method for teenagers as it can help them feel safer. Just one thing to be assured that IUD must be removed by the time it expires. Or else, keeping it for long can cause infections.
