Emergency contraceptive pills are same as oral contraceptive pills and is the one of the best birth control methods. ECP is a contraception that prevents pregnancy

Emergency contraceptive pills or oral emergency contraceptive pills (ECP) generally also known as postcoital contraception or the morning-after pill, work as changing a woman’s hormone levels in the same definite ways as birth control pills and other hormonal methods work to prevent pregnancy. Pills are one of the best birth control methods.

contraception, birth control methods

Emergency contraceptive pills give the body a short, high burst of synthetic hormones that interfere with natural hormone production needed for ovulation and pregnancy and to get pregnant. Emergency contraceptive pills prevent pregnancy by interfering ovulation or by disrupting egg and sperm transport to the vagina, fertilization, or implantation. Emergency oral contraceptive pills can be used following five days of unprotected sexual intercourse. The pill is the best.

It is not at all advisable to use emergency oral contraceptive pills as your only protection against pregnancy or STD's or STI's if you are sexually active because they are not as effective as other contraceptive methods are. Pills are one of the best birth control methods.

There are three different types of emergency contraceptive pills: Firstly, emergency pills that contain only progestin, Secondly, emergency pills that contain both progestin and estrogen, and Thirdly, emergency pills that contain the antiprogestin ulipristal acetate. Pills are one of the best birth control methods. All types of emergency pills have a lower pregnancy rate and fewer side effects.

Progestin-only emergency contraceptive pills include Plan B, Plan B One-Step, Next Choice, and the mini pill. Progestin-only emergency contraceptive pills are slightly more effective than combination pills and may cause few if any side effects. The second type of emergency contraceptive pills uses both estrogen and progestin. Pills are one of the best birth control methods. Currently, no combination of emergency oral contraceptive pills are sold specifically as emergency contraceptive pills but many brands of the daily birth control pill can be used at a higher dose for emergency contraception to prevent pregnancy.

How To Use:

Emergency oral contraceptive pills are also called “morning-after pills.” But remember that you do not have to wait until the morning after that. You should start the contraception pills right away or up to five days after you have had unprotected intercourse.

Effectiveness:

Emergency contraceptive pills reduce the chance of pregnancy by 88 to 95 percent. Studies say that if a hundred women have unprotected intercourse, about eight will become pregnant; if the one hundred women use emergency oral contraceptive pills, only one will become pregnant out of them. Pills are one of the best birth control methods. Taking the pill within the first 24 hours may increase effectiveness high to the 95 percent.

Side Effects:

Progestin-only emergency pills have few or no side effects on the system. Vomiting and nausea are the most common side effects of taking emergency contraception pills that contain both estrogen and progestin hormones; about half the women who take them keep feeling nauseated, and about 20 percent women vomit. Due to such medical reasons, some practitioners always advise taking the pills with food or with an anti-nausea medication such as an over-the-counter remedy for motion sickness.

I think oral contraceptive pills are really helpful. They give the body a short, high burst of synthetic hormones that disrupts natural hormone production needed for ovulation and pregnancy. We can secretly plan to avoid pregnancy.

I was on birth control pills for 6 months and then I conceived a year later. I started the pills right away after 5 days of having unprotected intercourse. It took me sometimes to be regular but then it went well for me.

It can take long to get back to your normal cycle after contraception. Combined estrogen and progestin pills are slightly less effective than progestin-only pills. Always choose them wisely.
