Experiences gained during his job as an undergraduate research assistant at the newly formed Vanderbilt IVF program eventually changed this plan. This one turn of events led to a true calling and career in reproductive medicine. Dr. Slayden obtained his M.D. in 1990 from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana.
In 1994, He completed his OB/GYN residency training at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. Afterward, Dr. Slayden completed his fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. During this time he received extensive experience with in vitro fertilization (IVF), ovulation induction, infertility surgery, and treatment of female endocrine disorders – including PCOS. Prior to joining RBA, Dr. Slayden was Assistant Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology in the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology, Infertility, and Genetics at the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta. In 2001, he decided to move beyond the university setting to join the RBA team and be closer to his extended family. He is board-certified in OB/GYN and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. Dr. Slayden is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG), the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), and the Georgia OB/GYN Society. Dr. Slayden has over 20 years of experience in the infertility field and 10 years prior experience providing obstetrical care and delivering babies.
